In the State of Maine, Class A, B, and C crimes are considered felonies. Class D and E crimes are considered misdemeanors.
Each Class A Crime is punishable by up to a maximum of 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Each Class B Crime is punishable by up to a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Each Class C Crime is punishable by up to a maximum of 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Each Class D crime is punishable by up to a maximum of 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
Each Class E crime is punishable by up to a maximum of 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
